CircleCI Build/Deployment Integration with JIRA (updated API as of Feb 1, 2019)

It appears that Atlassian recently announced support for third party integration of build status/deployment information in the “Development Tools” tab of JIRA. This was previously only supported by Bamboo (the CircleCI integration simply added comments to the existing JIRA ticket):

I see updated API documentation here for build/deployment info, but no mention of whether this is supported by CircleCI:

Will this deeper integration functionality eventually be included with CircleCI?
