It’s…curious that 26.4 was in beta for over a month and CircleCI didn’t release even one 26.4 beta image, and now we’re to GA. This is not an Xcode release that introduced a new MacOS version requirement so I do think it’s fair to ask what the holdup is. It is business critical for our iOS application to stay current with Xcode versions and I’m sure plenty of other CircleCI customers would say the same.
It’s always the same. Check it out:
I’m glad this will probably be my last message about it, as we are almost done migrating to Xcode Cloud. CircleCI is a joke if you want to stay on top of the game. A joke.

I’m wrong about that. Xcode 26.4 requires MacOS 26.2+ which is new, prior versions were requiring MacOS 15.6+
MacOS updates have caused delays in Xcode machine image delivery in the past so I’m left to assume this is the hold up.
That said:
Because they don’t care.

Thank you for contacting CircleCI support. I understand you would like to use XCode 26.4.
We are aware of the new XCode version and are working on getting it released. We have an extensive validation setup to make sure releases go as smoothly as possible, due to this a public release may take some time. Please keep an eye on our changelog, when 26.4 is available it will be posted there.
I appreciate your patience in this matter and let me know if you have any other questions.
Kind regards,

What I’m hearing from support is that 26.4 should be available by the end of next week.
Meanwhile Xcode 26.5 Beta is already available (not here in CircleCI, of course, I’m talking about Apple):
FYI, if you’re preparing a new macOS image, there appears to be an issue with the debugger hanging when attaching to the simulator (including running tests). Anecdotally this seems improved if running Tahoe 26.4.
