Why Was a Bug Report Closed?

Why was this bug report closed?
As mentioned, this is still an issue.

It was closed by the Discourse system user, probably for dormancy.

I suggest you delete this post (it is a duplicate) and then flag the other one to a moderator for reopening. You can then post on that topic again to keep it alive.

You are kidding me right?
I have to regularly post non-sense to the ticket to keep it open?
That is a really stupid system and provokes needless helpless comments just to keep tickets open and only confuses users.

Besides that, how would I flag the other one to a moderator, I donā€™t see a ā€œFlagā€ button anywhere.

Ooh dear! Your message carries a clear tone of aggression and negativity, and Iā€™m sure youā€™ve been on this rotating ball of rock long enough to know that diplomacy is a much better strategy if youā€™re seeking assistance. Iā€™m a volunteer here and am under no obligations towards you.

Whether automatic closure is a good system is not something Iā€™ve taken a view on - it is certainly not my fault. Itā€™s probably not CircleCIā€™s fault either, since it is probably a Discourse default setting. You can always start a new thread to ask why this happens.

I should think putting ā€œHow do I flag a post in Discourse?ā€ in a search engine might answer your last question. You need to click on the three dots on a postā€™s icon bar, which exposes a ā€œflagā€ icon. You can click on the ā€œSomething elseā€ radio icon and send a message for a moderator.

No, my message has neither agression nor negativity.
Just a criticism of the workflow if that is really the way to go.
If you felt attacked, I apologize.
I didnā€™t blame you.
And sure, it is CircleCIs fault.
I wrote in quite some Discourse forums already and none had such an auto-closing.
I see that it is a good thing maybe for support requests, as if there is nothing written anymore, the issue is probably resolved.
But for bug reports that are usually not fixed in that time-frame it is a pretty bad thing to do imho.

You can always start a new thread to ask why this happens.

Well, that would be this thread.

If so, then Iā€™m blind, I cannot see a flag option, neither for closed, nor for still open posts.
Can you please show a screenshot?

Hey!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Thank you @haifer for trying to help.

I agree with you, it makes more sense to keep bug reports open until they are resolved. This setting is global to the forum, but we should make an exception to the bug reports category.

This may only be available to certain users based on their activity level so donā€™t be surprised if you dont see it.
