Docker Convenience Image Updates: January 2020

Hey Everyone,

Happy New Year!

As typical for this time of year, there wasn’t many changes for the month of December. In fact, there was only a single change for the standard convenience images.

I did want to introduce you to our Next Generation Convenience Images. We’ve been building a brand new fleet of convenience images that are faster, more efficient, and most importantly, more reliable. Many of these images have been in public beta with some reaching General Availability later this month. Check them out here.

We’re going to start including changes for next-gen images that are in public beta or GA in this monthly post.

December’s Changes:

Changes

  • Base (cimg/base) - reverted back to using a circleci user instead of root. (ref)
  • PostgreSQL (circleci/postgres) - Alpine builds have been disabled. (ref)

Stay tuned for more information on our next-gen convenience images right here on CircleCI Discuss and the CircleCI Blog. If you have any questions, please let us know here.
