Hello,
We wanted to provide an update on the build and release of an Xcode image for Xcode 26.2 Beta 1. While preparing and testing an image for the Xcode 26.2 Beta 1 release, a bug was identified which affects how Xcode interacts with its registered simulator runtimes.
In CircleCI Xcode images, all of the default simulator runtimes for a given release are provided, in addition to the previous major versions of each of the simulator platforms (iOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS). This beta release has an problem that causes any number of installed and registered simulator runtimes to not be detected by Xcode upon rebooting the virtual machine.
This creates an unstable execution environment within the image, where we cannot guarantee that any single simulator runtime will be available after boot. Due to this issue we have been unable to produce an image that passes our QA processes yet.
We will continue to investigate for all possible workarounds to this issue, and will provide an update here when the situation changes. Additionally, we have opened a bug report with Apple (FB21012725) and we hope to hear back from them soon about this.
Thanks for your understanding!
