This image includes Visual Studio 2026 Build Tools. msbuild on PATH is Visual Studio 2022 Build Tools. To use Visual Studio 2026 Build Tools, either call it by full path:
& 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\18\BuildTools\MSBuild\Current\Bin\MSBuild.exe' my.sln
or start a VS 2026 developer shell first, which sets up PATH for that session:
& 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\18\BuildTools\Common7\Tools\Launch-VsDevShell.ps1' -SkipAutomaticLocation
- The “Old version” column reflects the previous image (
