Python Type hints as syntax error

My builds have been failing because CircleCI incorrectly marks functions which contain type hints in it’s signature as incorrect.

Eg:
*/gateway/controllers/hooks.py", line 6 def post(self, hook: dict) -> dict: ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax

Are there know workarounds?
