AWS build was working last month, now get "Either git or ssh (required by git to clone through SSH) is not installed in the image..."

Any attempt today to initiate a circleci build results in this message.
Whether automatically via github release tag, or manually retrying the failed build.

We haven’t changed anything in our AWS setup, what could have changed?

What “image” is it referring to? Should we be looking for something in AWS or GitHub or CircleCI?
Where do we need to “install git or ssh”?

I don’t know what steps to try next.
