Is it possible to do an automatic push when updating specific files, or specific folders?

Would it be possible to tell us more about your scenario?
Would the files be changed to start a new build or would you only want to build when specific files or folders are changed on your VCS?
It is possible to use the API to trigger a pipeline and the link to the API can be found here.
