# Ubuntu 14.04 Build Image Update 201610-01 Released

The new system that will allow you to be in control of individual software versions is being worked on as a top priority. It’s a big project so we’re not able to give timelines for it.

We are now announcing updates before they are released - so although it doesn’t address all your concerns, it at least gives some warning. This update was [announced here 9 days before the release](https://discuss.circleci.com/t/ubuntu-14-04-build-image-update-201610-01/7076/7).
