Docker error when using circleci to validate .yml file

#1

I’m trying to use the circleci CLI to validate my config file locally. I get the following output:

$ circleci config validate -c .circleci/config.yml

Receiving latest version of circleci...
Warning: failed to get default registry endpoint from daemon (Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker daemon running?). Using system default: https://index.docker.io/v1/
Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker daemon running?

My project doesn’t use Docker.

How should I configure Docker for the CLI tool?

And why does a Docker daemon need to be running to validate the yml output?

I guess something was borked with my docker installation. I fixed it by running brew cask install docker again :woman_shrugging:
